Hoping you guys can help me out I have a sporterized jungle carbine I bought as a project but am now thinking I may just part out the non modified parts rather than try to restore it. The bad is that the flash hider/bayonet lug were butchered but the bore is good and it has a magazine and the receiver seems to be original except for a no4 sight that was modified to a Buck horn style. The bolt is complete and has the 0 bolt jead. I had a gunsmith look it over and check headspace which was acceptable. my question is what the parts I have may be worth individually as well as what I would have to pay for a flash hider and original wood etc if I do decide to desporterize it

The crowd can be tough at times, lol. What I personally have found for the No. 5 is that parts to restore these tend to be far and few between. I think that if you kept your eyes peeled on the EE here, you may find the pieces you need to restore it, but there is no guarantee that you will be successful. Flash hider inventories seem to have dried up.

Who knows, you may get lucky and stumble on the parts you need. There are places in the U.S. that have parts, but I'm not up on export policies for firearms parts shipped to Canada. Plus even there it is hit and miss when it comes to their inventory. I wish you the best in your endeavors.

For some reason No5Mk1 parts are unobtainium. You have to be vigilant and patient, surf all the usual web sites regularly and hope to be the one ahead of all others. Check non-US sites as well, ie the UK and Australia. Your best bet is to score a complete No5 and sell the parts of your original rifle. Good luck!!

Thanks for the input ... I decided to part it out rather than mess with trying to restore it everything moved pretty quick on the EE ... Still want a jungle carbine but I'll just keep an eye out for a complete one

I wanted one also, but couldn't justify the price or using it for hunting. I picked up a Savage 2 groove and cut the barrel at 19 inch's and slid the front site back on
