I just got a 1955 Lee Enfield No4 Mk2. The rifle is in really nice shape with a matching bolt and receiver. The Stock doesn't match and I knew that when I got it.
What did catch my eye was the wood grain. It appears to have a striped look like some old fashioned furniture.

Can anyone give me any details on it.

Thanks

The 1955 production Mk. 2 rifles were uniformly stocked up in beech. That looks like birch, with some figure. I suspect that the rifle was restocked.

I'm with tiriaq on this...your rifle has been restocked in birch. Check for marking...most likely Canadian marked. Should be British beech...I've got an unissued MK2 set if your interested in marking it right. Ron

Consider yourself a lucky guy to get one stocked in northern birch like that rifle.
What a beauty! If the bore and chamber are in great shape, then you will have
a nice rifle to hunt and plink with for sure.

More pics would be good.....:)
