Lee-Enfield Trainer sight?

More stuff I don't know enough about...

I was told this was for a L-E .22 trainer and that the Ross sight went with this base. It has an inspection mark and C broad arrow.

Anyone know what this sight was for?
Can it be used on a sporterized 303 without tapping?

For a no1 mrk3. Cooey made the mount to adapt for a ross rifle sight. Not easy to come by, I have one on my shtle 22 trainer and yes no modification required.

They were made to fit the No2 .22" LE. I believe it will shoot loose on a .303".

made for the Sht IV .22 . they are a no smith mount like the Parker hales , they were made in the 1920`s i believe . much saught after and not cheap
as for putting on a full bore .303 im not sure it would take the pounding as a single screw holds it in place

Well now I went down to the cave. Here are the other ones I have.

One is marked BSA Martin the other has Sutherland New Glasgow.

I assume the Sutherland is a Ross sight although not sure for what model. Can anyone tell me what type of disc would go in the Sutherland site?
I am not 100% certain what the BSA/Martin site goes on.
The little one does not fit a Martini slider so not sure what it was intended for.

I just uncovered a large amount of Enfield, Martini, Snider and MP44 parts tucked deep within the stack of gun goods in my house. I should start a thread too because half of it I have NO IDEA what they are.

Thanks Tiriaq. Any idea what model the Sutherland was intended for?

I believe it would fit Mk. II ***, ****, ***** rifles. But it looks as if it has been modified to use a screw in aperture. Was likely used on a target rifle. These Ross sights will also fit the sight base on a MLE, and might have been used there for target shooting.

Thanks Green. I seem to recollect having tried it on my Long Lee but it did not seem to fit. Did the CLLE have a different dimension ladder sight?

I have a couple of those sights on my trainers. There is a special screw that attaches the sight on the rifle it has a loop on the end for easy on and off. I need a couple of them for a couple of spare sights in my shop.
