Lee Enfield...What Have I Got?

Recently a family friend told me about a relative of his who was wanting to sell some rifles. I got a Lee Enfield off of him for what I hope was a good price. As far as I can tell the rifle is in great condition. However, considering I know nothing about milsurps, I was hoping someone here could help me out. I know these threads are useless without pictures, so I'll hopefully have those up soon. In the meantime:

-It has a grey metal butt plate with storage for a cleaning kit.
-Two peep sights at the rear of the receiver. One fixed, and one adjustable for longer distances. The marking MkIII on the vertical piece and MkII (might actually be MkIII) on the sliding piece.
-No4 MkI* LONG BRANCH 1943 on the left side of the receiver.
-Matching serial numbers on the bolt handle, and right below the safety. Different number on the magazine.
-1956 written on the metal piece that protrudes from the back of the bolt when the rifle is cocked.
-The stock does not extend the full length of the barrel. The upper piece extend about one inch past the metal strapping on which the sling attachment rests, and the lower portion extends four or five inches further, leaving roughly six inches of barrel on it's own. I understand some people cut these down themselves, yet this looks original to me. There are no tool marks on the upper hand guard, and the lower part is capped with what looks to be an original metal cover.

Anyone know what that might be? And what it might be worth?

EDIT: Also, does anyone know a good source showing me how to take this thing apart to clean it? The only youtube videos I can find seem to show a different version of the rifle, and all I've been able to figure out so far is how to remove the bolt.

Thanks

A picture would be great, but from what I can understand, it's a sporterized No4. Although the stock description hints at a "Jungle carbine" wanna be (the No5). The butt stock description sounds like it's from a No4. Does the barrel have a "flash hider" at the muzzle end?

To take the forend off, you need to remove the magazine, then the middle band (the metal "stapping"), then the front trigger guard screw, then the back trigger guard screw. Remove the trigger guard, and slide the forend off, downward. It may be tight on the action.

Thanks, I'll try that. I just didn't want to start unscrewing things without knowing what I'm doing. As for the rifle itself, there is no flash hider. I did forget to mention a marking on the bolt (the piece that unscrews) of what look like two crossed staffs maybe? with what looks like a crown above it.

Good idea to ask questions before, it's usually the right approach :)

The part at the front of the bolt that unscrews is called the bolt head.
