Lee hand loader-any comments?

Ok,first a little background:
I'm interested in reloading for my .303 not only for accuracy,but also for the economics of it.Me and my"mentor"(who also is an avid reloader)decided that before going out and dumping a lot of bucks on a press,dies ect,that I should pick up one of those lee handloaders(the ones that have everything you need to reload one caliber).
My question is this:Anyone have any experiences with these devices?I have zero experience reloading,but am really interested in learning.
Any advice\comments would be appriciated.
Also,any recipies for proven loads would be handy as well.
 
IMHO. the Lee hand tools produce good quality ammo although they do not produce it quickly.....

I've used them occasionally for over 35 years with good (even if a bit slow) results........

My choice now for loading in the field is a Lee Hand-Press......

I started with one. They are slow, as mentioned above. They use scoops for powder, and that's OK, used as directed, with the loads they supply. But don't go messing with max loads without a scale.
If I were starting again, knowing what I know now, I'd start with a lee hand press, and regardless of what other presses I bought (and I would), I'd keep it. (I had one, and traded it. Stupid move) They are a very handy press.
 
"...an avid reloader..." Does he not have the press etc? If so, all you need is a set of dies and a shell holder. And his largess with his equipment.
The Lee hammer powered dies neck size only. Ok for a .303 as long as you don't try to load for more than one rifle. Slow? Yes. Work? You bet. However, forget the scoops. They can vary a powder charge by a full grain. Buy a scale and a trickler. Load data can be had here, but buy a Lyman manual(powder and bullet maker's manuals are limited to their products.
