I'm working on a new buckshot load. It's in AA hulls, 18 grains IMR 700x, a WAA12R, 8 pellets 00, 20grains BP buffer. It's load data from IMR's guide. When I crimp though the crimps are collapsing into the hull. A couple of the petals of the crimp will be folding back into the hull. What am I doing wrong. Can I add an overshot card without adding volume? Thanks.

When I find my crimps collapsing into the case, I use 1 or 2 fillers (depending on how much I need to lift the contents of the wad) that I make from foam egg cartons. Works well, adds almost no weight and doesn't interfere with the shot when it goes out of the barrel.

The scarcity of 1 oz wads for 16 ga. caused me to begin doing this.

Oh yeah.............I put the spacers in the bottom of the wad before I put the shot in.
