I'm looking for a Lee mold from a Canadian supplier. Any suggestions on who in Canada has a large selection ? I'm looking for 356-102-1r (90305)
Thanks

Higginsons is the Canadian distributor. Try giving them a shout. I was looking for a specific 45-70 mold but they are temp. out...Maybe you'll have better luck.

Finding Lee molds are easy, now try finding sizing dies for the Lyman 450/4500 or RCBS, good luck. Went into P&D and asked and they looked at me like they had never heard of such a thing, had to go thru 3 people before one of them even knew what I was talking about. No one in Edmonton carries them, I would prefer to buy in Canada but it is getting really hard.

I went in to P&D and asked for gas checks, guy looked at me weird, like I was looking for something for flatulence problems!! I can't help with the Lee as I don't use them, too frustrating, always falling apart. Lyman, RCBS, and Saeco molds are avail. from Buff. Arms, these are much better molds and will last forever if you treat them right. Sizing dies are also avail. including custom sizes from them and Mid-South Shooters supply. I would like to use the sponsors at the top of the page or at least buy in Canada but they never have anything i need.

I hear ya Ben. The only Lee molds that I have are custom 6 cavity molds. It used to take 3 months to get a custom mold made but now it is close to a year and sometimes 14 months. With the price of jacketed bullets almost doubling in the last couple of years people have started to switch over to cast bullets for there plinking. Bullet molds are going for almost new cost on Ebay because customers can't get the molds new in the store. I was loading some Hornady round nose 30-30 bullets yesterday in prep for hunting this fall (never to early), and I noticed the side of the box had a sticker price of 21.99 for 100. I looked up Higginsons price on line and the exact same bullets are now 38.00 a box. I bought the original box last year about this time from P&D in Edmonton. What a scam. I cast for all my firearms except shotgun and it is kind of a hobby unto itself that I really enjoy.

I was going to call Buffalo Arms sometime this week so thanks for reminding me. I always bought sizing dies from a guy on ebay for 16.00 each but now he all of a sudden decided not to ship to Canada, pita.

I must have talked to the same idiot about sizing dies that you asked about gas checks. I was in Milarm about 2 months ago and I asked the guy behind the counter for some reloading supplies. He said that they are getting out of it and that in the back room there is a wall with some stuff there that they have discounted and to go and see if there is anything there that I could use. Well I picked up a .323 RCBS mold for 20 bucks, 4 boxes of .44 gas checks for 15.00 bucks a box, some 38 S&W new brass and a 4 lb container of Red Dot powder for 40.00. I even found a .44 cal Remington/Colt BP conical Hollow Point mold, didn't think they made such a thing.

To be honest I'm just starting to get into molds and casting so I'm learning as I go along. As a kid we had sinker molds at home and I cast hundreds of sinkers so I do have an understanding with safe handling of lead and precausions. If there are better molds available that arn't too pricey I'm listening.

I don;'t see to be able to google buff arms. Any link ?

You know that Wholesale Sports has about 40 different H&I sizers on the shelf in Edmonton, don't you?

P&D didn't stock anything casting related until a couple of months ago. They didn't see the demand, and they didn't have any knowledge among their staff, so they made a concious decision to avoid it. Now they have some basic supplies, but still lack knowledge. They should not be considered a primary destination for casters.

In response to cadeau......Lyman molds will cost at least double what the Lee ones cost, RCBS and Saeco are more, they are made of iron not aluminum, they will last a long time if taken care of. Not all aluminum molds are bad however, NEI , Mountain Molds, LBT, all produce very good molds from aluminum, and i like using them as well. The aluminum they use is hard, much harder then the very soft Lees, NEI uses the same grade of aluminum that is used for making gears. Lee aluminum is so soft it galls when contacting similar metals, the screws are alum., the sprue plate is alum. The screws are the first to gall, making them "stuck" and any attempt to loosen or tighten them in that state will result in them snapping off.
I also have alot of brass molds from custom makers and they are very good to use as well. It's like the old adage, "you get what you pay for".

Yes they have some sizers but they didnt have what I needed. I will second the comment on P&D, as far as casting goes they have cast bullets and that is about it.

You can also usually order stuff directly from Lee. I found their dies require a bit of maintainence, but are otherwise okay.
