Lee neck sizing collet dies

I love them, if for no other reason than I no longer have to lube cases then wipe the lube off. A huge time saver in my opinion. The only issue I have had was with my 303 collet die not giving enough neck tension. I'm 99% sure it was a die adjustment issue as it only happened once. I only shoot milsurps so I can't really comment on accuracy improvements as I wouldn't call any of them presicion rifles, but the extended brass life is a nice benefit as well.

... and if you don't do that, after about 500-1000 rds the die will be damaged and become inconsistent. Found that the hard way. :redface:

In my 223, I FL sized for the first time after 4 firings, and some of these loads are pretty hot.

Just make sure you never run a case through without the decapper installed. The collet will crush the case mouth and you'll ruin your case.



Also, as per the instructions, for extra precise resizing, run a case through then turn it 1/4 turn and run it through again. Helps with removing the ugly collet petal indentations too.

You do not have to use the decapper/mandrel it is not necessary and will not always allow the proper tension to be achieved with various brass due to wall thickness. Unless you get a few different mandrels ground to size by lee in .001" increments. I use the Lee Neck sizing Collet die without the decapper/madrel installed with no problems with annealed brass most are under .002" runout a few .003" with more springy brass .0025"-.004" using a Redding competition micrometer seater die. Another option is to size a thou. under then expand with K&M type expander to proper dia.

I am presently getting a custom .50BMG neck collet die and .338LM collet from LEE they work great no expensive bushings either. I am pissed I spent $250 + on a CH4D neck bushing die for my .50
 
Another + for the Lee collet die is the fact that you can resize the full neck without getting the dreaded donut at the neck shoulder junction that screws up concentric run out.
 
Those collet dies are my favorite Lee product.I ordered number of custom sets for milsurp calibers and do not regret it.

I found out that I can easly use Swedish Mauser neck sizer for Carcano if I grind shellholder far enough. Works wonders :)
