hello guys,new to realoading, I just started loading my first 45acp with tite group on a lee turret with pro powder measure.it calls for 4.8 grns of powder and to use .40 hole on the auto disk---when i weighed this several times it seems to be alittle light---yes i callibrated the lee scale and rechecked everything--so i switched it up to the next hole size-.43 and it seemed to weigh perfect. is this uncommon--im still within the safety margin either way but still a little concerned if they are off from the listing. anyone else come accross this.thanks for any info--Dave

This has been my experience as well (about .2 of a grain under by chance?). As long as you trust your scale, you're good to go. Different lot#'s of the same powder may vary, so double check if/when you switch to a new bottle of the same powder.
yes thats about right-.2 light. thanks for the reply, i feel better about it now. being as im new i will be checking and double checking everything. i just spent 2 hours reloading 50 pieces so as you can tell im doing lots of double checking lol. Dave

Same result as mine. Just make sure your scale is calibrated. I stopped using the scale that came with the kit. Stay safe!
LEE stay's on the side of safety.Their usually a hole or 2 on the light side.
Nothing at all wrong with the scale,if anything it's TOO accurate.
You can write your name on a piece of paper with a pencil and the LEE scale WILL notice the difference.

I use a Lee turret press with an auto-disk. I've noticed that you will get a slightly heavier charge when you let the turret rotate a full cycle (the movement will shake a little more powder into the disk). That might make up your difference.
Your powder will vary by lot as well. I use the auto disk a lot and find that it's consistent, I write down the charge for a powder by disk and keep that in a book. There is also a powder charge chart in the back of the Lee book. When I change the disk, I run about 6 charges through it before measuring as well.
