LEE PRO 1000 question ???

Hi,

I'll buy a Lee Pro1000 9mm, with that my father will be able to reload. I already have an hand press with dies for my .45 acp. My question is do I only need to buy the Shell Plates #2 to reload with the press?

You will need the shell plate and large primer feed assembly, also the case feeder won't work for 45's but you can feed them by hand.

the case feeder can be modifided to work by disassembling and removing the metal drop tube at the bottom of the case feeder

What are you asking? Are you trying to set up a new Lee 1000 for 9mm, or to set up for 9mm and .45 ACP?
The two cartridges use different shell plates. I don't have the Lee numbers memorized, but if you have checked the table, then that is the right number for 9mm.
The trick is the primer size. The 9mm uses a small primer and the .45 ACP a large. The press, when it comes, is set up for either small or large. Then all you need is the shell plate and the dies.
You have to buy the whole shell plate carrier to switch from one primer size to the other.
As for case feeder, I have never used one and cannot advise.
