Lee Pro Auto Disk Powder Measure ??

I am not using any tumbler lube so that is not my problem. I only seem to get the blackened cases with the Frontier 200gr FP plated. Belling of my cases is at an absolute minimum so my problem must be to much crimp, although .471 should be about right.

I am just setting up my Lee Turret Press and have what seems to be an issued with both the Pro Auto Disk Powder Measure and the Auto Disk Powder Measure. I have tried both 231 and Unique powder but find that what the Lee chart says for a given disk does not come close to what actually gets thrown.

I am trying to load 45 ACP with Winchester 230 gr MC bullets. The Lee book calls for Min 4.8 and Max of 5.2 and suggests using the .43 auto-disk for this load. All thrown loads using this disk weight out at around 4.0 or less.

I tried using a larger auto-disk but they are not very consistent when weighed. Anyone got any solutions for this set up? Does this recipe seem right since the powder is only half filling the case.

Thanks

In my experience the auto-disk works fairly well with most ball and spherical powders but it consistantly throws less than what the book says it will. Built in liability insurance is my guess.

Been away from the internet for a few days. Fired the 10 rounds that I loaded and everything went very well - cartridges look clean after being fired and grouping was around 3 inches at 6 metres, which for me is as good as it gets. I did pick up a Lee adjustable charge bar and will give it a try next.
