Ive got an auto-disk powder measure on my Lee Progressive 1000... now Ive just pulled this whole unit out of retirement and cant remember how to get this powder measure unit to work! It all seems to be there from what I recall spings , linkage ect. but it dosent seem to want to move the disc with the powder in it over the case to fill it when you get to that stage.

Any one offer a bit of help?

Thanx,

Spooky:eek: .. I just went thru all sorts of grief with my Auto Disc after 20yrs of faithful service and upgraded to the Pro Auto disc version. Got tired of all the recent failure to charge for an unknown reason:confused: and in spite of the chain it is very reliable now and eliminated the chance of double charging. Anyways if it is failing to move at all, is it possible that you are missing the Powder Measure expanding plug from inside the die? When the handle is pulled downward, its that unit that is forced upwards into the powder measure innards to activate the lever to draw the disc forward to charge the die, and then allows the spring to return it to the resting position after the upstroke. Just a thought on my part.. You can go onto the Lee site and have a look at the parts if you need, or contact Higginsons as they are also the Lee distributor in Canada. They may have but if u need to order from Lee in the US, they are very reasonable to ship here ($4 avg).Manuals also on their site but if u are stuck and need pictures etc, I can scan and fwd if u PM me
Good luck

You can ditch the chain entirely if you get the "F" powder measure lever and spring that you would normally install on the Auto-Disk for use with the Turret Press. What that does is that when the case goes into the charging die and makes the disk slide forward and then lower the case, the spring automatically pulls the disk back to it's home position. The great thing about the spring system is that even if you short-stroke the press, the disk still goes back like it should. It works well for me because I size and prime my cases before I run them through the Pro 1000, so I can run the press faster because I don't have to worry about short-stroking the lever.

I agree, but using the F bracket was part of the problem in my case, perhaps there are more, so I opted to use the chain link. Aside from being a pain when changing carriers and looking like part of Grandma's specs, it does work great.. I too gave up on the priming station and hand prime before.. A bit of a pain but far more reliable in the long run. As I said above, I had over 20yrs of reliable performance without 1 squib, then the plague set in just days ago..I'll figure it out, but for now its just easier to use the new measure.
Cheers
