Hey,

Wondering if any of my fellow reloaders use this device and what your thoughts are. I do not load lots at a time, always under around 50 rounds. It looks like a neat little device that might suit my needs and it chamfers and deburs at the same time as it trims. I currently just use the lees pilot and shell holder method, then use the chamfer tool. I do know that you need to purchase the trimmer and the correct cartridge dies for this to work. What are your thoughts on this method?

I love mine. Dies are cheap and it does all 3 steps at one time. It also trims primed cases. If your hands are tired of the Lee pilot trimmers then try the deluxe quick trim. You can blaze through 50 cases pretty quick.

I have one, pretty great. Can hook it up to a drill and really rip through em, but I find that it doesn't chamfer as well if its going that quick. Great tool otherwise.

Think about getting the POWER quick trim. I find the hand tool binds due to handle levering. Also, I have broken the retaining pin on the deluxe head. Anybody done that and know how and what to fix it with?

I have one with out the power adapter and have trimmed Federal and PPU cases.

It works well but I found that some of the filings/trimmings collect in the die and on the cutting blades causing inconsistent results. I clean the assembly when this occurs and it works as advertised.

I only have one single stage press (new to press loading) but I would recommend setting it up on a press that's dedicated to operations like decapping/trimming. The filings have a tendency to make a bit of a mess on the press, at least for me.

One thing to watch out for is wiping the holder with your finger to remove any debris. The debris will cause inconsistent lengths. This happens more frequently which I believe is inherent in this method of trimming.

Regards
Ron

Go to lee's website and warranty claim.

You have to be careful to use a low speed drill if you go with the power option. It doesn't chamfer very well if you go too fast. I speculate that there may be some work hardening when the cutter bottoms out and rubs on the brass too much. Kinda like how machining with feeds to slow will sometimes work harden some types of steel.

I've used mine on about 40 cases now, Kevin, and love it...

Yes it gets a little clogged up, but it takes about 20 cases before this happens. Just clean it !

After getting the little black knob dialed in to the desired trim-length, it's precise on my digi-caliper to 0.001".

Every time, without fail. I've measured every case just to be sure, 2.035"/2.036" always...
