Hi guys, has anyone used the rgb dies from lee? From what i read they are the same lee dies as the other sets just no shell holder scoop etc. Are they worth buying or would i be better to wait untill i see a used rcbs or lee set in the ee? Although most sets i have seen in the ee are priced almost as much as a new set of dies after you factor in shipping. I just had my ACL surgically repaired so unfortunately i need to be cheap and dont want to pay full retail. I need a set of 308 dies so if anyone could point me in the right direction that would be great.

Same as the red box, but sans shellholder, scoop, load data and factory crimp die. You may not need the factory crimp die- I never crimp for bolt action rifles but ymmv. Shellholders are cheap, and you'll find data on the interweb.

Thanks windknot. That's what I wanted to hear. I have load data already, borrowed a friends dies, but I hate borrowing stuff. And I never crimp for my bolt guns either. Looks like I will be looking for a rgb in 308. Cheers

I bought the rgb dies first. I didn't like them at all. Right out of the box the decapping rod was bent and the bullet seater plug would "wobble" in the die when you adjusted up or down. Returned ASAP. Bought RCBS and havnt looked back. Just my experience.

I use custom dies and shellholders for my f-class reloading.

I use RGB dies for everything else. If your reloading for hunting they really are a "really great buy". I have a set of .223, .270, 300 Mag, and 338 Mag. All have been great and the lot of them cost less than a +10 thou shellholder and body die for my .284.

It just make sense to use them.

I won't pay RCBS prices when Lee makes die sets for 1/3 the price that work better for me. Try Higginsons for a Canadian source otherwise Titan reloading or FS reloading in the US usually have most Lee parts instock. After shipping and exchange its sometimes cheaper than buying in Canada.
