Was looking for some help, if anyone has any experience in putting a value on this, i sure would like to know. I dont have a clue, but do know that they are not overly abundant. Thanks for your help.

I saw recently a full No 4 rifle cutaway for $1500.00. I would guess yours would go for less than that?
 
Are they that much now?
I was mildly interested a couple of years ago, and IIRC, they were about $200 or so.
 
Collectors source has #4mk1 skeletons at $195 and $395. There were lots of no1mk3s sold over the years as well....I would think the high end of the price would be inline with collectors source.

Robbs: If that full no4 skeleton was the LongBranch one that floated to a couple shows in Western Canada in the last 4 months, it eventually sold for about $1250. I do not believe it was a factory model as the red highlighting was applied to the wrong areas.....ie they would have it in the barrel's bore, and not on the actual cut metal like most cut aways.
The price may have been a little high, and I have to admit I know the seller and the buyer. But if both left happy, then I guess the price for that particular one was right. It did have a nice patina.

Note the firearms center still regards these as firearms in many cases.
 
Nope. Some of the cuts are slightly different, but there was not really a fixed pattern for these conversions. Some were done at the local level for training of the weapon's techs, some were done in bulk at higher levels of ordnance, and it's possible some were done at the manufacturer.
 
No. Some of the ones c/s sells have the SKEL serial numbers, which will have some meaning. End of the day, you kind of have to take a cut-away for what it is, and not put too much history behnd it. But for the amount a cutaway is worth over a sporter (which is not much), I can't see someone doing all the work of milling, painting, etc just to break even on the sale price.
