Lee turret press question

KEEP IT!! lol dont throw it out like i did, its a replacement ratchet peice that goes in the black plastic clamp by the shell holder, its what moves up and down the twisted rod thing to make the turret turn, its a replacement for when the original wears out.
 
I have been using my press about 2 hours a week for 2 years and have replcaed mine 2 times.

Make sure you keep it, and even get some spares, as it would suck to not have one when needed.

What happens is the press will not rotate fully into position, and not index properly. Thats when you know to replace.

Have fun with the new press. I love mine.
 
I need to replace both the nut and the clamp it goes in already. Only loaded about 1800 rds so far with the Classic cast turret press, is this normal wear and tear or is something wrong?

Maybe you have the "clamshell" on too tight. I've rolled ballpark 1,500 rounds this last two weeks and besides the occasional clean/lube ram and lightly oil spiral indexing rod, it runs the same. I have wore out the plastic square once so far (in three years, not in two weeks!)

No, that is too soon. I have loaded more than that and no noticeable wear yet. You do have to lubricate the turret perimeter (along the rim that contacts the top plate of the frame), the action rod (square rod with spiral), and the linkage pivots with #30 motor oil. That way, the plastic parts (the ratchet and clamp that turn the turret) are not stressed and will not wear out prematurely.

As well, always operate the handle all the way to the top and to the bottom. Do not short stroke the operating handle.
