I was at the Edmonton gun show a while ago and there was this outfit there that specialized in LE restorations and rebuilds.

I got a card, but all their contact info seems to have died or something. Phone numbers don't work, website is down after working two weeks ago and I just sent a second email.

Thing is; I have a real jones for weird old guns and they had an example of a reproduction offset SLME scope mount I was drooling over. The guy running the table told me they had a few done up and I expressed interest in having that done as part of the restoration of my Aussie Heavy Barrel, which he said was perfect.

But, I can't contact them now. I wondered if maybe the guy running the shop; Stuart Hardcastle on the card, is on this forum or if anyone knows him or how to get in touch.

Thanks for your time.

Stuart is good people. He is going to be at the September Edmonton gunshow when I talked to him a couple weeks ago.

Hi ILike. In Austrailian sniper rifle production there was a low mount and a high mount made for the SMLE service rifle. The telescope
was Australian made and was identical to the Brit Pattern 1918 telescope. Difficult scope to find. But these scopes were mounted
overbore and not offset to the left. Almost all WW1 patterns of British scopes on the SMLE were offset. Scopes are near impossible to find.
So beware of what they are trying to sell you and if you intend to build a sniper clone be sure they have used an original to copy. I would
be interested as to just what they are talking about. JOHN

The ones i saw Stuart using are offset.

I'm not committed to anything like a 100% authentic match.

I never thought I'd see anything like this offered, anywhere.

it's not perfectly what i'd wish to find; which would be the Winchester A5 offset mount or an off-set for an Unertl. But have to compromise on something. And yeah; scopes are unobtanium.

Hello.
leeenfieldrestorations.com is down due to glitch in transferring domain name to my web guy!!! he is working on it, Wix is awful to deal with. my apologies for anyone not able to contact us, my phones and email skydt@sasktel.net are working.
On the #1mk3 clones, these rifles are copies as close as I can get to the real ones in view only. I could never afford a real one so I made one, put the best barrel and bit's I had and put them together! I had Whitehead mounts made and fitted them as per all the photos and information available on the internet, there are some very good photos of this installation there, the scope i chose is the Malcolm 6x this looks like the original ones installed! very close to the A5 and such. The clones I build are set for 100yds you can set them for whatever you want but I start there.
The mounting hardware is expensive and is very well made, I am not planning on selling these mounts as I cannot ask the kind of money or get the supply I would need to service the community, the pics on the internet will help some of you to do them yourself, at first glance they look like bits of thick angle iron. They are NOT the rear one especially is intricately contoured to fit the action curve. I thought about building a set myself as I have some machining skills and the tooling, but our workload is such I have to shelve the idea.
I hope the website is functioning by the time most of you read this, and thank you for your patience!
Stuart Hardcastle
