"Here is a 15mm Pinfire Revolving Rifle. These massive revolving rifles were manufactured almost exclusively for the South American market as was the huge 15MM pinfire cartridge. French and Belgian gun manufacturers were under the impression that So. America held some big game. Unlike the North American Continent, in South America about the biggest game one can find is the sloth, a native ostrich or two, and the mountain lion. Most of these revolving rifles were used to hunt the wild pig. It is shown along with a Colt New Service chambered for the 44 Sp. Cartridge – this is the largest frame Colt ever made, and gives you an idea of the thumping-big size of this pinfire revolving wonder. The barrel on this rifle is 26 1/2 inches long, and overall it is 43 inches. On the right side of the barrel are the marks: crown over N, and a G circled. On top of the barrel it reads (some of the letters are almost impossible to read): E. PARIS, CALLE RIVADAVIA 20 BUENOS AYRES. A similar Lefaucheaux revolving rifle listed in the very complete work by Adolfo Martinez on the use of the Lefaucheux in Argentina carries the same lettering on the barrel and was manufactured by the Belgian gunmaker Pirlot Freres."
