We'll since a can't find a Thomson Center Prohunter Ive decided to look at other options!

unfortunatley I have to shoot left due to my eyes.

So I am looking at these two lefty's

Tikka T3 lite Stainless syn stock in 30.06

Ruger M77 mark II Grey Laminate stock stainless barrel 30.06


Pros and cons of each?

Of the two, just pick the one you can afford or like best then work up a load with 165 grain bullets.

I am right handed but left eye dominate.... 20/20 in left and 20/30 in right too.

It took me a while to learn to pick up and shoot a left handed rifle!
 
I would go with the Ruger, in fact I did. The only down side for me is they are a little heavier than the Tikkas. Oh, and the triggers aren't as good out of the box, but that's a cheap or easy fix.

I am in the same boat, but I found a LH rifle easy to get used to, but I don't like long actions. It feels much more natural cycling the bolt left handed if it is a short action.

I bought an A Bolt. I chose it because I just never felt comfortable loading a rifle with my left hand. A mag is so much easier than any top load, at least for me.

Ever considered a Browning BLR 30-06 , 300WSM or 308 they can be used left or right. I just got a blr stainless 270 WSM haven't got a scope on it yet and the barrel isn't broken in yet but after 20 rounds through it I'm getting 2" groups at 100 yds. It's light and fast, makes one hell of a truck gun

I bought a leftie Ruger 77MKII in 30-06 last year after looking all over Canada for one. Found one at Wholesale. Tikka cost freaked me out and the Ruger has a real good rep. Put a Leupold VXIII on it and still havent spent as much as the cost of a bare Tikka. And mine is stainless with the grey lam stock. It is my hunter for BC

A new Ruger 77MKII is over a thousand bucks Canadian... Why would a $800.00 Tikka T-3 scare you?:confused:
Hey the Rugers are a great rifle they have the 3 position tang safety and they shoot great. But the Tikka guarantees a one inch group, has a much better trigger IBRO and has a detachable mag to boot.
Nice scope you picked by the way...:cool:

I went to my local huntin store today and they had a tikka and a ruger there both in right hand but that was ok...

I bet I spend 1/2 hour picking up both and looking them over and over.

Very nice rifles the both of them.

In the end the Tikka just felt a bit better to me... the fore end is a lil skinnier than the ruger and it just fit my hand better. The bolt on the tikka was so smooth too! I liked the ruger safety better but you can't have everything.

I am going to sit on this for a while... not into rushing a big purchace but I think a left hand tikka stainless syn is on top right now.

Now comes another issue? what rings and bases??

opitlux? or burris? or leupold?

I have allready decided im putting a Leupold VX-I 4-12x40 matte with the LR duplex on it.

HI. I personnally bought a ruger 77mkII laminated, stainless 30-06 L/H, two years ago. Equipped with a bushnell 3200 3 X 9, 40. I shoot with 180 gr and 165 gr and for the length of the barrel(22 inches) the grouping are better with 165 gr. I like the action but in fact the grouping are a bit less efficient than a tika or a remington 700 BDL L/H.
But there is always a but, for hunting it is enough precise, compact, tank proof action, and quite a good look too.
Today i can tell you that i would re-buy the same rifle but maybe a 7mm rem mag.
 
I have a Browning Abolt left hand in 270. Very pleased with it shoots very nice 1 to 1 1/2 " groups. I also like levers. Being left handed isn't a handicap only a challenge.

Hey Bigred dont mean to stomp on your parade but I bought a LH 77mkII last march at Wholesale for $749 and they paid the shipping. What I was looking at in their catalogue at the time was maybe the varminter. But no lefties listed at all and the Remmies were a thou plus. Werent a lot of available choices. Love my Ruger and it was available.
