Left hand rifle build help and suggestions.

hey everybody, I have a itchin to get me a nice bolt action rifle. originally thinking of a 35 whelen, I'm growing fonder of the 9.3×62. my dream line up of my hunting rifles is a left handed bolt in 9.3, my savage 99 in 358. my remington 81 in 35 rem. and a henry mares lef in 357 mag.
anyways back to my point.
I would like to find a suitable action to build this Rifle on. I Really love Savage rifles. but any and all suggestions are welcome.
needs to be left handed,
needs to be have Iron sights ( will have scope but for back up)
wood stock options preferred.
preferably 5 round capacity.
obviously I Don't want need the rifle perfect out if the box, this is more of a as budget allows build.

Building a 35 Whelen or 9.3x62, I'd go with a LH Ruger M77 or Winchester M70. The Ruger will be much easier to find, and less expensive.

If you use the Savage 110 left hand action your magazine capacity will only be 4 rounds.
If you go with a Sako 85 left hand action, you will have a detachable magazine capacity of 5 rounds.

Sako does build the Model 85 in left hand, in 9.3x62 in the Hunter and Bavarianmodels, and both can be orderedwith open sights.
I have the Hunter ordered in this configuration. Price is $2450 and I was told 6-12 months to get.Been 6 months now.
I had previously tried for the Bavarian, but was told that Sako only sends 5 lh to north america each year. If those 5 are spoken for in the US, we won't see them, as those orders get filled first, any any extras are then sent to Stoeger here in Canada.

Price as compared to a build:
My last build was $750 for a donor rifle (lh Ruger Model 77), $650 for a barrel, $250 to chamber and install the barrel to action, $250 for NECG open sight (front, barrel band), $300 for Cerakote, $100 for pillars and cross bolts, $100 for glass bedding, $50 to tune trigger. Same price as a new Sako. And I will have my new Sako quicker than the build. And a much smoother action with a detachable magazine with greater capacity.
 
A Ruger 77 or Rem 700 would be a good place to start and easier to find than other actions, Savage can be found easy but it would be last on my list. If you can find one a Winchester M70 would be my first choice.
 
Sako AV is a great action. You may find a 9.3 for sale in the US. And the Sako 85 is available in 9.3. As suggested the Ruger M-77 could be used for the action and I don't think that they chambered a factory rifle in a 35 Whelen or 9.3 but with a barrel swap it could be done. More or less the same for a Winchester M-70 which they made in Left hand action and this would require a rebarrel. And a Savage Action could be used also with a new barrel. The other two options are Tikka and Browning. Tikka likely has a 9.3 but not a 35 Whelen. It would be worth your while to contact Browning and request a build in 35 Whelen or a 9.3. The other company that would build to you desired caliber of choice is Montana Rifles. If your having a build done - and adding a new barrel, a 24 inch would be a better option over a 22 inch barrel. In this way one can expect less muzzle rise, improve velocity and possibly gain a shade of accuracy. It's been mentioned that Zastava builds a 9.3 and it is available in Canada.
 
Tikka does have a 9.3x62 left hand, or at least they did a couple years ago, I bought a LH hunter from profit river and it was a really nice rifle.

I'm guessing your going for more of a classic style, the Tikka hunter fit that nicely for the money.

Have you considered a 338 win mag?
 
If I was building a left hand fighting rifle anymore I’d likely build a 30-06 around the 200 gr Partition. A bigger bore is nice, but unless you are making a living with one they just don’t get used.

If my budget was healthy I’d look for a Winchester Model 70, a good synthetic stock and have a gunsmith that understands Model 70’s put it together including your iron sights.

If my budget was more limited I’d buy a Ruger 77 already so chambered, buy a McMillan stock for it and have good irons installed.
