Left Handed 1911 Parts

On a 1911A1, except for the one on the Falcon Portsider, I don't think it exists. Caspian might have had a very limited run of frame kits.

If you're stuck on this feature, maybe the 1911A1 is not your pistol.

the only thing you actually NEED on a 1911 if you're left handed is a AMBI safety-argument can be made that it was actually designed LEFT-handed,as it came out when cavalry sabres were still the primary weapon,on their last gasp and drawn from the left, carried in the right hand, same as the colt 1873 single action- i've had a 1911 since 74 and aside from the ambi safety, everything is operated with the trigger finger

You can get a LH slide release and safety for a 1911.

I'll try to find a link for it later if you're interested.

BTW, I'm southpaw too and would install them on a 1911 platform if I had one.

Oh, and there is nothing wrong with Norinco's. Friends of mine in the States who love the 1911 (and have more of them than I can count) claim their inexpensive little Norinco's can outshoot their Gold Cups.

Problem solver

Us lefties have always known that our index finger is the best for all slide releases. Those unfortunate rightees have to reach around and stretch to get to theirs. We have the best way.
But, here's an easy fix: look for and obtain a 1911 slide stop lever that has the face extended out. The extra material will give you a little more purchase with little fuss..
I put an extended slide release on my Glock 17 for the same reason.
I'm thinking of changing my signature to "we were all born right handed but some of us overcame that impediment."
Wadddddaaaa think?

I like that I can hold the gun out in front of me and operate the slide stop. If try it in my right hand, I have to turn the gun in on an angle for my thumb to reach, but this can depend on the gun.

The only problem I find is when I'm using it as a slide stop. Either I check to see that there's no cartridge in the chamber and slide my hand over the ejection port to get to the lever when I rack the slide, or I do it from the front. Even though it might have been cleared, I still feel a certain danger when putting any part of my body over that muzzel.
Sigh.
But I wish I had those problems. I still have to send off my papers. It's a bit off topic, but does anyone know how long it takes, on average, to get your license once you sent your stuff off? I really just can't wait. =(

that depends on where you are and if you're already "in the system"- if you're in ont or que, get on with your life and be surpised when it shows up

For me it was issued 28 days after the forms were recieved, then about a week later it came in the mail. I'd say 1.5 months including mailing time.
