Does anyone know if theres is another manufacture other than Stag Arms that manufactures a left handed AR 15. Being left handed seems to be my curse. Where is the best place to get one? I have been trying to get ahold of Arms East for a price and availability on a 2L or 2TL but I'm not having any luck.

Any help or recomendations would be greatly appreciated. I will be looking to purchase as soon as my ATT goes through. Hopefully it will not take to long. Just faxed it in on Monday.

Thanx

Sean

Go by lever arms. It's off of 4 and burrad. Ask them if you can look at the new norinco m4. It has some stuff put on it for you lefties but the ejection port is still on the right side. I say take a look at this model cuz for the price they are being sold for you will still have money left over for ammo and maybe even a hand gun. If the ejection port being on the right still bugs you then you will have to bug Walter "DangerTree" & get a lefty upper to slap on it.

Having the ejection on the right is actually an advantage for south paws. There is no requirement for canting or flipping the rifle if there is a stoppage, and you can immediately tell if the bolt isn't fully seated. Clearing a stoppage is (imho) easier as well.
I would recommend installing an ambi safety, but use the rest of the controls as is.

I don't think it is neccessary to source a left handed rifle. I am a lefty and prefer using the AR series in the standard configuration. The only must is the left hand brass deflector. A nice to have is an ambi mag release and ambi safety...

I'm a southpaw. I had a Stag 16" Lefty AR as one of my two complete rifles I ever purchased. I sold it when I started building my own AR's as there is really no need for left hand AR. The standard AR works for me and there is not need to worry about left hand specific parts (upper receiver and bolt carrier)

The only issue I have is when I shoot my Colt slabside is that I occasionally get hit with hot brass on the cheek  however there is no case deflector on that rifle.

As far as I know, most lefties prefer right handed AR's, as they are still practical, and they are easy to source.

Now for the obligatory leftie joke...

Well I made the big decision and ordered a Nice new black Stag Arms 2L AR 15 from Arms East. My first restricted firearm ( waiting for my ATT ) and first black rifle. What a fantastic place to deal with. I travel to Newfoundland quite a bit and will definitely have to stop by on my next trip for a visit. Now I just have to wait for the shippment to arrive in the beggining or April. Is it April yet? Later on I will add a quad rail, light and optics but for now this will get me started nicely. Does anyone have any suggestions for optics?

If you're thinking the brass is going to hit you, forget it. It gets kicked out about 20 feet up and over your shoulder.
I've been shooting assorted battle rifles left since before(30 years or so) and have never once been hit by the brass. One M1 rifle clip went straight up and straight down upon ejection one time though.
Over heard a militia plug going on to one of his non-militia buddys about how it was impossible to shoot a C1A1 left, long ago. Civvy range. Asked him how I managed to shoot expert with one. Lots of mumbling.

Try Noveske Gun Works.. it is located in my home town here.

the owner, John, should know if he has dealers in Canada or what it takes to ship one across the border...

he makes lefties and has a lot of options available also...

I'm a lefty and I prefer a standard config with left hand selector and mag release Gen 1 badger tac latch. Just as long as there is a brass deflector on the upper. These are easy to find parts for and more options as well. I you must have a fully Left AR then go to stag or DPMS makes left hand uppers receivers and bolts.

I'm lefty and the only ambi part I have on my AR's is the Colt Canada charging handle latch, it just makes it that easier and less awkward to operate the AR with optics mounted. I operate the safety selector with my left thumb, I press the mag release with my right thumb. The ambi mag release is situated really close to the bolt catch and I too often fumble around a bit to find the bolt catch to clear a stoppage or whatever.

I have only one problem with the ejection port being situated on the right side: powder burns. I can't get too close to the rifle while aiming down the sights or I get pretty rude surprises as the gun is firing. I don't have an issue with spent brass hitting me but the powder burns (especially at full auto) are definately unpleasant. Of course its very convinient to have a constant visual on the bolt and know exactly whats going on whenever theres a stoppage; I don't even have to unshoulder my weapon or alter my shooting position to clear jams.

And of course for slings a left handed baseplate sling adapter for my single point or my vickers slings to avoid nasty sling entanglements because the attachment is on the other side of the weapon.

My lefty AR musts:

-Ambi charging handle latch
-Left handed baseplate sling adapter
-Brass deflector

My lefty AR nice to haves:
-Ambi safety selector

My lefty AR will gladly do withouts:
-Ambi mag release
-Ejection port on left side of reciever

All that considered, my muscle memory and preferences have driven me to believe that only 2 or 3 lefty enhancements are necessary on the AR platform, whereas some just clutter the receiver and make it more troublesome to operate other important parts.

my 0.02$

Hans
