Left shooter conversion kit for Tavor

Any idea who sells it here in Canada? In the US, IWI wants you to send them your Tavor and they'll install the kit, check your headspace, then return it to you along with the RH bolt. Is it the same in Canada or do we just buy the kit and install it ourselves?

There is no kit. Just a left handed bolt. You dont need to check the headspace either after pulling the barrel and putting it back to switch over the charging handle. Converting a tavor for southpaws is easy enough to do. It took me about 30 minutes after reading the instruction and fumbling my way through it the first time. Im not mechanically inclined in the least bit either. By now I imagine there is at least 20 or so videos on youtube demonstrating how to do it. Watching a video is infinitely better then reading a manual IMO.

Im sure there is a smith or two or even a few CGN nutters here that would do it. However I have never seen anyone offer it up as a service yet in Canada.

To answer your question your local gun shop can order you a left handed bolt from North Sylva. I hear they are out right now but expect more in, in about 60 days.

Thank you. I thought it was odd that they wanted to check the headspace on a brand new rifle, but that's what their web site said....

I will ask my gun shop to order me one.

Pretty sure its a liability thing in the US. I've done the left handed swap over the course of an afternoon. The bolt part is easy. The charging handle is harder!

Pretty sure CSC had a left handed bolt in their glass case last time I was in there . . . so on the other side of the country from you.

It is, but for left shooters, you have to buy a left bolt. Everything else just swaps over.

No its not, you require additional parts to make it ambi. If you can't run it from both shoulders without extra parts, its not an ambi rifle.

I thought all you needed was the bolt. The usual YouTube celebs all said that, and I found this here also:

How to convert for left hand use

You do not need to be a mechanics genius to perform this procedure, but it does require a bit of habilities. Take your time, ensure you do not break anything or lose screws or pins. And remember this is not an Ikea kit, you should have no parts left at the end (except for the right hand bolt)!

Note that if you fired the rifle in the right handed configuration, take the opportunity to clean it thouroughly as you go through the steps!

Parts

The only part you need to purchase is a left hand bolt. Everything else can be reversed without needing additionnal parts.
