I couldn't find a good source of a proper left side low swing safety for a 98 Mauser action. So I built one. I have the capacity to produce these on a Cnc machine and get them through hardened like the originals. Is there enough interest out there to bother with such a project?

If this is the wrong area I hope the mods will move this post for me.

I would take a couple of those. I hate the junk that's out there now, and the safety should be on the left side for a right handed shooter.
Who did that bolt handle? I like it!

The Euro left hand safety on my factory FN Commercial had a lot more curved to clear the scope.
Yours is real nice , great job!
If you need a picture of an original and some measurements PM here.

Cheers Dale

It clears the scope. I don't like the shape of the commercial FN safety. Or the Buhler for that matter. This one is shaped much more like the original flag. I also found one pic online of a Rigby custom with this sort of shape.

you can mount a rem. Long action 20moa rail on that thick end to the back and a small shim i just am doing one as i am on here on a vz24 action they are the cz bruno old time fac. ones

Yes, but on a classy Mauser sporter you run the risk of contracting dickdropoffitis.

How much clearance from the scope? The ones I have now when engaged touch the bell on a low mounted scope.
It's tough to get my thumb on it to disengage it.

Putting a rail on a Mauser does noting other than block the loading port and doesn't help with scope clearance unless you want to shoot European style with your face 4" off the comb of the stock.

I can't wait till all the tactical crap is as out of style as the purple metal flake thumb hole mote Carlo rollover stocks from the 70's

it beats them alum. weavers. and you can put any scope on any gun . with a after market stock you are not 4inchs off . the rail is a good thing and one of the best mounting systems out there.

Picatiny rails have no place on a Mauser action. They are ugly, regardless of stock choice.

And that was not the point of this thread at all you have obviously missed the point.
