Lefties- How do you do it?

Im hard core lefty too. Check out the new Browning Xbolt lineup. Nearly the whole damn lineup is available in lefthand bolt actions including the Hunter series and the Medallions if you want some bling. Fairly new on the market but come with a bunch of kewl features like a fully adjustable hard chromed trigger, match barrel, bolt that can be used with the safety on, tang safety and cocked indicator. I have another on order but these are Miroku made and extremely well put together. If I didn like my CZ527 and CZ452 lefties I might be convinced to swap them. FYI if you get into pistols CZ makes the CZ85 series which is left and right handed so even though it fits me nice it also works well for my RH friends too. Pricing is good for the Xbolts and Epps has a whack of lefties in stock in a whole list of cals. Just loaded up some 308s for a serious sight in this weekend. Woo hoo. Really cool recoil pad on these things too. Suggest you check this one out.

I am the same way, I am left eye dominant but right handed. I never really thought anything of it, I just close my left eye when shooting. I don't lose any sight quality compared to looking through with my left eye while holding the gun in a lefty position. while shooting shotgun I just keep my left eye closed as much as I can for faster target acquisition. I've been intending to wear an eye patch for short periods of time to strengthen my right eye and hopefully make it dominant. i'm just too lazy to get around to it

I'm a true blue lefty and I find that AR's are quite lefty friendly. Add a Norgon Ambi-Catch (or similar piece of kit) to speed mag drops, an ambi safety, and you're golden.

I love the Rem 870 shotgun with a lefty safety. Use any pistol with an ambi safety (or no external safety at all), meaning the field is quite wide open for you.

Bolt guns are something else. I've never used a lefty bolt but I'm sure I'd want one for off-hand shooting.

I'm left handed & left eye dominant. I only own right handed bolt rifles, though. Shoulder on the left and use my left eye to sight.

Never figured left handed bolt rifles were worth the bother.

Thats like telling a left handed golfer that right handed clubs are the cats whiskers.

That's cause I'm leavin' all the left handed bolts rifles for those of you that need 'em.... ;) :p

Kaboom!

I'm in the same boat. I'm ambidextrous enough that it became more comfortable to shoot from my right shoulder.

I've heard there are tricks to change the dominance of your eyes, or at least compensate for it, but I don't know what or how effective they are. I never bothered, I just stopped whining about the world not catering to my needs, sucked it up and learned to do something differently than how I imagined it.

Die hard lefty here too. Blew my dad away when I picked up the 22 when i was 6 and started knocking targets over without fail. Levers are great for that, but my Mod 12 is annoying in that it throws the shell at me after firing. (A model 12 in left hand? isnt that a dream?)

One day I will finally buy a left hand bolt...

I'm a mixed bag. Shooting rifles on my left just feels... wrong. I can't describe it, but it is just not a good feeling. Odd thing is that at rest, holding the rifle in my left feels better, but not when i am shooting. However I am left eye dominant, which is a challenge. I shoot all my rifles right handed, because it feels much more natural, is cheaper and gives me better access to all types of firearms. It's also impossible to get left handed scopes. Having said that, pistols are even weirder. With two hands I shoot right handed, but with my left eye, and single handed I shoot pure left. The things we do to adapt.

I am a lefty also left eye dominant have shot this way for 40+ years ..Started hunting with a 303 british reaching over to work the bolt …practise enough you can get quite good at it …
when it was time to get a better rifle there were no choices for a lefty bolt that did not cost you 5-600$ more than a right handed ..early 80s ……

I used to do a lot of shot gunning trap /skeet/birds and the likes ,, so a hunting buddy told me to try a Remington pump rifle in 30-06 (before everyone gets pissy about it..lol.. )I have used it to take everything B.C. has to offer in big game but a sheep …its more than a capable shooter ….yes its noisy & rattley but you learn to hold it so its not that way,, and second shot comes faster than any bolt gun

In the last 5 years I have shot a few elk with it and went in search of a larger caliber and am now using a Ruger #1 in 338 win mag …easy to shoot and better than trying to learn to shoot a lefty rifle after all these years …

Both the remington and the#1 offer a lefty good shotting options just my opinion ..

NorthernMopar if the model 12 you are talking about is a Winchester pump shotgun then suggest you either look at the Rem Wingmaster or just go full ambi with a Browning BPS. Bottom feed, bottom eject and tang safety. My first gun was a real Wingmaster back in the 60s and aside from the safety being wrong I never had a problem ever.

Just bought a new model 11 savage .308 in left hand bolt what a dream to use comb package accutrigger mounted weaver scope extremly clear for $550

Hey bud, ive always shot Right hand rifles, an ive done well :)

i find its pretty good holding rifle by pistol grip an cyclin bolt with the right hand.

Im also interested in gettin a rifle which is actually Left handed but it feels so unnatural :S
