this conversion requires the us of a g36 semiauto only trigger group, a section of the rear reciver from a demilled g36, and the g36 recoil spring, rod and buffer assembly. the serial # would have to be removed from the sl8 reciver but could be etched elswhere on the reciver. is this legaly possible?

Looked into it, but it costs 4x as much as the top notch conversion.

Need the tbostic block - $600
Need G36 folding stock - $150
Need a demilled G36 Triggergroup - $400 -+ a few
Hassels of import / export paper

Thats it.
You cut down your SL8 reciever to fit, this means once you do it, you cant go back. Reguarding the SN, depending on the Gen of the block, there is just a cover peice that goes over the SN, it's still there if I remember right. I don't think there is anything in the lawbooks that says you cant cover up the SN, but I could be mistaken.

you could but would you want too. some leo sees a EBG that he saw in a movie last night and he thinks is illegle and you cant easly show a number and paper to go with the gun.
be safe have fun, dont do anything dumb, if you cover it up putit on in another spot.

Tampering with serial number
108. (1) Every person commits an offence who, without lawful excuse, the proof of which lies on the person,

(a) alters, defaces or removes a serial number on a firearm; or

(b) possesses a firearm knowing that the serial number on it has been altered, defaced or removed.

WRT - The issue will be if the officer (and then the crown feel that you did one of the above)

I have redi-mags on some of my AR`s -- they cover the ser number (etc.) I`m not too worried.

Sorry, I've read this sentence 5 times, and I still don't understand what it is supposed to be saying.

Kevin is right with the Code quote on alter, etc serial numbers.

There is no offence for having them covered. The classic examples are Smith and Wesson revolvers. Up until very recently the serial numbers were only found on the bottom of the butt/grip. And with most aftermarket and some factory grips the serial number was completely covered.

However, as already noted by Hellpit, the cost for such a conversion is very expensive to the point of being almost prohibitive. Adding a G36C stock will fit the need for most shooters, IMHO.
