I can't seem to find any legal requirements beyond that of a non restricted rifle. I placed this thread here as I a going to attempt to make a homemade rifle. I will be using a pre existing barrel as I have no means to rifle a barrel. I have a plan in my head that might work. Does anyone know of any restrictions placed on homemade rifles? It will be longer then 26" and will have a 18.5" barrel

There are none, really. Follow the laws that define the firearm you are attempting to make, and don't make a whole bunch and sell them unless you are properly licensed to manufacture and sell firearms. Keep in mind that if anyone gets injured using your gun, you maybe held accountable for their injuries. Other than that, have at 'er.

Also, keep in mind that rimfire rifles have no limits on barrel length, and you can go as short as 106mm (?) as long as your OAL is 26" or greater. This only applies if you are using a raw barrel blank, and not if you are using an already complete (threaded, chambered, profiled) barrel. "Complete" barrels cannot be cut below thew 18.5" limit.

The 18.5" limit applies to centre fires only. The 26" is for everything. Otherwise, there are no laws about building a rifle. You do lose a lot of velocity with short barrels though. Really only matters for a semi-auto. They need it for cycling.

Well, you're halfway there. The 18.5" NR limit applies to semi-automatic centerfire rifles. If the firearm is a manual-action (bolt, pump, lever), there is no practical barrel length requirement (still must be over prohib. pistol length, however). There are also no magazine limits on any rimfire or manual-action rifle, with the exception of a select few cases.

Just make darn sure that the thing is unquestionably non-restricted. You do not want to get into a yes it is, no it isn't argument, resulting in it being sent to the SFSS for examination.
If you make a restricted firearm, t will have to be registered, of course.

Yeah, one of the few grudgingly acknowledged 'good' things that came with C68 was that a bunch of laws were struck off the books that limited the legal ability to make one's own.
