does anyone know what the Ont regulations are as to how many slugs are legal in a shotgun when hunting bear or deer.
I always thought that they had to be plugged to three rounds only when hunting birds.
Does not make much sense to be limited to three rounds when rifles are five or ten.

From page 25 of this years hunting regs:

"You must plug a semi-automatic or repeating shotgun so that it will not hold more than a total of three shells in the chamber and magazine combined."

This question has come up a lot lately.
The 3 round rule comes from the Migratory Bird Act. Our legislation covering the Treaty between us, Mexico and the States. In Ontario, the civil servants at the MNR decided to make a law by regulation so 3 rounds in the shotgun would be for all hunting. Regardless of the action type.

I prefer to tell people 2+1. Mostly because if your plug allows 3 in the tube, and you keep 0 in the chamber it is technically only 3, but if the Yogi comes to check and slides a fourth in, including the chamber, you're euchred.
