I've been looking at dry-fire pistols like the red one here:
http://www.glock.com/training.htm

I wrote the CFC to ask if dry-fire pistols were considered replicas and was told "Dry fire [sic] are not considered firearms"

In that case, it seems like you wouldn't even need a PAL to buy one. Can someone confirm their legal status, and maybe explain why no one seems to sell them?

yeah but the red and blue glock can have a LIVE upper put on them and they will work perfectly.

according to the FRT disks the red and blue glock are REAL/LIVE pistols.

you want dry fire.... get an airsoft ;)

I've used the Glock "blue gun" that fires paint pellets. Kinda cool...

The GLOCK 17T 7.8x21AC is chambered for reusable compressed air cartridge casings and ensures reliable functioning without chemical propellants. The ammunition is available in both color marking and rubber projectiles to address different training environments such as force-on-force training or sensitive environmental conditions.

airsoft are not illegal to own or posses. there is just some screwy thing about importing them is all.

I don't see the point of owning one - with the right accessories, you can dryfire most handguns. And I sure wouldn't want to be waving one around at a LEO - bright colour or not.

And why would you be doing this anyways?

Something you can dry fire more than one shot would be a nice thing to practice with if you don't own a traditional double action.

I wrote to the Ontario CFO's off a while back and got them to send me this letter confirming the status of the blue/red training firearms.
NOTE this was for the full plastic/non-moving parts training pistols

as long as the airsoft pistols do not fall under the "replica" definition. EG made of colored plastic (not black) you can import and own them. Eg you can buy transparent air soft versions of the Walther pistols at lebarons. (size is a tad smaller as well).

I thought those were prohibited, replica firearm. They even list the Marui airsoft pistols as being prohibited in the advisory to dealers: http://www.cfc-ccaf.gc.ca/compliance-conformite/bulletins/businesses/bulletin-19_e.asp

interesting hadn't seen that before. Of course I'd like to see them take that to court. Ask the officer who made the recomendation to stand up and take a 6mm BB in the throat, or eye, or where ever, repeatedly, or even once, and see if they don't cause harm or injury.

well that's the interpretation by some dude, i don't think they can outlaw MArui's until the courts say so.... because i see a lot of TM airsoft guns for sale and the stores aren't shut down yet....
