Hey all. I'm not sure where to find this info so figure I'll ask here.
This is in regards to a rimfire rifle magazine only. Am I legally allowed to take 2 magazines and braze them end-to-end to make a higher capacity 22LR magazine?
If so, am I limited to my own use or am I allowed to sell them as well?
Thanks in advance.

My understanding is that there are no laws regulating the manufacture of magazines that do not qualify as prohibited devices. The only way a rimfire mag can become a prohibited device is if it is designed manufactured or intended for use in a handgun and has a capacity greater than 10 rounds. If you're brazing two pistol mags together the RCMP would likely deem the product to be a pistol magazine, and if it had a capacity greater than 10 rounds it would be prohibited. Otherwise there shouldn't be any issue.

As always, IANAL, this is not legal advice, and you should double check with the CFO's office (and get a written copy of their decision for extra CYA points).

Welcome aboard!

For making your own, the only consideration would be to NOT use pistol magazines. If by design they are for a handgun, then they must be limited to 10 rds. If you're mating two rifle based magazines, have at 'er.

Regarding commercial enterprise post modification, I don't have too much insight. One at a time, you should have no issues. If you start churning out 100's of them, the parent corp of your magazine may want a piece of the action.(pun not intended but kept since it fits)

hey a fellow PG shooter cool! your looking for an alternative to the soon to be prohib 25 round mag eh?

#Yeah, I'm not sure how, or even if, the grandfather clause will take effect if those mags become prohibited (thanks to the 715 pistol), but in the meantime, 25 rounds just goes down range far too quickly!
I'm actually surprised that no one has (commercially) come up with a drum mag for the 715 yet.#

its not popular enough of a rifle for a company to commit the r&d to build one. if your idea works keep me in the loop. Id start with a cheap 10 round mag tho dont chop up a 25 rounder incase they become collectors items LOL
