Legalities of Making a CZH2003S (VZ58S)

Thank you Peter and great thanks to all that participated, but I think I'm gonna sleep on it until the Conservatives actually win the next elections
Until then, I just might nickel plate the VZ.

How could you prove to an LEO that you didn't build it first as a prohib and then neuter it?

Doesn't a FA VZ have a honkin' big hole in the bottom of the receiver to make room for the different trigger group? (plugged by epoxy or weld in the recent imports)

If you were building one from scratch, it would make sense not to include this hole in the first place. It would then be hard for anyone to say that the gun had been originally assembled as an FA. I thought this is what we were talking about?

JKF - a VX can be made full auto without that hole. Also, holes can be welded over and mechanically polished to look like no hole ever existed. A hole in the receiver is NOT the defining issue between FA and not FA where the VZ is concerned.

Of course you can make just about anything FA if you want to. I can't see where a VZ-58 with a semi-auto receiver would be any easier to make FA than an AR-15, for instance. or an SKS.

I can't see a prosecution going very far on the basis that the accused "might be a really good welder, and have made a CA which looks exactly like a brand new receiver". We still are innocent until proven guilty I think.

I'm sure if it came to it, magnaflux, radiography or similar technology would confirm whether or not welds exist.

I don't see the need to be excessively paranoid on this. It's no different than finishing an 80% AR-15 receiver. You don't need to prove that you didn't start with an M-16 and weld up the selector hole etc; the CFC just registers them.

Yup.. I concur, I have fully looked (examined) at my VZ58 and well it is really a simple device, not much to it.
I agree with both JKF and DaveGP.
