Legally pinning a magazine tube extension

Some Shotshell OAL numbers

Hey, look at that. 2 3/4″ shells are NOT 2.75″ unfired, instead they’re around 2.2-2.3″. That’s because shotgun shell measurements are for the FIRED shells.

So lerch, are you sure that the 2-3/4 is 'ignored' since likely 6+ of them would fit ?? I dunno, just asking. Not planning to do it but would be nice to know.
Maybe 'bbb' can answer ?

It's not that it's ignored, it's that the larger size shell that can be chambered is how it's measured. If you had a semi-auto only chambered for 2 ¾" and nothing larger, then that's your limit of 5.9x rounds of 2 ¾".

Unless I'm totally out to lunch in my reasoning.

Not out to lunch, you're correct. A gun chambered in 3.5", will have a magazine for 5, 3.5" shells.

The fact that you can load 700,000 short shells in the same magazine is irrelevant.

Just buy the S&J - holds 6 rounds of 2 3/4 inch, 5.9 rounds of 3 inch, from the factory. No alteration needed, it's manufactured that way, easy peazy and comes with a spring, follower and sling loop too.

And where do you put a light on the S&J ext?

My gun came with a Nordic extension so l decided to pin it. Which I ended up using a steel bolt to do so it would meet legal requirements. In a very similar way to tacords pinning.
I used the rail mag clamp on it to mount a light for a while but found it was too far forward so I recently got a aridus forend to mount Mlok.
I still like the qd sling mount on the mag clamp and I think the whole setup is pretty nice.

If my gun hadn’t come with an extension already I probably would have bought the SJ and not had to worry about finding a way to pin it myself.

You could do that, it's good quality stuff - but it costs more, and isn't Canadian and isn't made by company that's been here on CGN since the Dark Ages - I'm pretty sure their first product was tactical ramrods for muzzle loaders.

True, but as you add up the "ext/clamp w rail/sling attachment, its fairly close in price. Plus, I am not interested in a "steel" mag extension. Has anyone looked inside your S&J ext to see if it has cerakote?

Im not sure what your issue is with me , your silly passive agressive post about my company this last few years is getting boring.
If you think a exstruded thin wall aluminum tube mag is better then a 1pc 4140 steel mag tube, then you better stop by the beer store and pick up a case of Bud light..
Nordic make good products but it compatition sruff great or 3 gun and ipsc.
Not somthing you would use on a combat shotgun.

Calm down, this isn't your "section" & we are allowed to discuss whatever we want, its not a jab or slight on your product. If anyone needs a BL its you.

Blocked, as in pinned. Like the NC +2 extension, has be blocked off to not hold the full extra 2 rounds.

The NC mag extension is "pinned' by the services @ Tactical Ordnance. They use a "elongated aluminum pin" that is rounded at the end that touches your shel, while the other end is flat & secured through the hole via permanent bolt.
