Looking at a few options on a scope in the $2000 dollar range and the leica amplus 6 3-18x44 caught my attention.

Any thoughts, reviews or feedback.

Also considering leupold, nightforce and Zeiss in the same range.

Weight is important in this application.

Thanks!

Swarovski z5 3.5-18x44 at 15.9 oz is insanely light, costs about $1800 or so. It’s a 1inch tube which helps keep the weight down.
Seems to be most “lightweight” 3-18x 30mm tube scopes are around 25 to 30oz.

Grassforbreakfast has it exactly right! I'm assuming that you are considering this for a hunting rifle. The Leica Amplus 6 3-18x44 weighs just under 24 oz. The other brands mentioned with this power range--Leica, Nightforce, and Zeiss--will all be at least 22 oz. with 30mm tubes, and other brands will be heavier. The Swarovski Z5 3.5-18x44 has the 1-inch tube as mentioned (which gives up nothing at all to the 30mm scopes), and at 15.9 oz. is not too heavy for a hunting-rifle scope. In my opinion, strapping a 24 oz. scope on a hunting rifle that will carried around in the field is just way too much weight and bulk to what should be a handy hunting rig. Leica scopes do have great glass, but so too do the Swarovskis. I have the Swarovski 3.5-18x44 noted, and it is a very nice scope (and is in your price range)--great glass and ample eye relief (3.74 in.)--but is the largest and heaviest I'd want on a hunting rig.

I bought a Leica Amplus 6 on a Black Friday deal. I haven't had a chance to hunt with it yet, but just mounting it and sighting in, I couldn't be happier with it. The glass is incredible, it functions beautifully, and I love the look of it. I've never weighed it separately, but an ounce or two either way isn't a deal breaker for me. I really don't think you can go wrong with the Amplus 6.

I sold a Zeiss HD5 to fund it, and I prefer the Leica hands down.

When I was researching scopes, the Swarovski Z5 was top of my list (I have a Swaro spotter I love), but the reviews on the durability and problems with holding zero crossed the Z5 off my list. It's crazy light, but potentially at the expense of reliability.

I’ve had one on my custom 7mag for a while now, excellent scope. I shoot it out past 1000 meters, glass is amazing for the price. Eye box is good even at 18X, on 3X you can see the barrel the FOV is that wide. My Schmidt PM2’s glass is better (obviously) but that Leica is very nice. It has alot of elevation as well, I have enough travel to send a 180 Berger to a mile with a 20moa base. Tracking has been bang on. Solid scope all around. Nice useable reticle as well.

Wait until Precision Optics has a 10 or 15% off sale, then snag one.
