Anyone own/use one of these, what are your impresssions? I'm looking at getting my first rangefinder and at around $700 this is what is catching my eye so far. The Vortex Ranger 4000 is also appealing at the same cost and lifetime warranty but I'm guessing the Leica will have better glass and electronics?

The reduced ranging capabilities of the Leica don't bother me as I'm only planning to use it hunting and target shooting and I don't have much interest in precision L.R. shooting so the additional features of many higher priced rangers are of little value to me, all I really want are a good, reliable, accurate unit with horizontal shooting distance capabilities, am I on the right track?

Leica is the one you want. Don’t even look else where honestly. Buy the Leica and prob won’t need to use the warranty. Great glass and very good laser on those Leicas. You won’t look back if ho go Leica. You Leica a lot! lol!

I don't think you will be able to buy Leica 2400 for $700, if you do know a place, please share! :)

I can't speak for 2400 but I can speak for 1600B model. Repeatable results if you take the time and learn it's quirks, leica's ballistic calculator is draconian(sucks), fastscan mode is great, light, and i find myself using leica instead of my binos for anything in 100-400m range.

Newcon are another option and can be found for a good price on CGN.

Having not owned a range finder before I have no frame of reference for comparison, but so far I'm really liking mine. The glass is super clear and bright, and the range finder seems to work well, have ranged buildings out to 2000 yards so far. No luck finding animals at distance yet to range but it did range a cow moose at 44.6 yards earlier this morning, lol. For the $700 shipped, after taxes that I paid I'm pretty happy.
