My 10 x 42 BRF's arrived today, and all the superlatives that have been used to describe these binoculars are not exaggerations.... these are an amazing optic! :)

The 350$ rebate is on until the end of Sept, so if you can find a pair, snag 'em!

That good, eh? How's the ranging on them? I'm really looking forward to them, mine should be here in the next day or two.

canucklehead, price from JoBrook was $2170 after tax (free shipping). Rebate is in USD so with our dollar being so strong right now, final tally should come in about $1800, maybe a few bucks under.

10x or 8x?
I honestly can't say yet if 10x was the right move... gotta try em out for a while. You know how it goes, sometimes 10x would be fine, sometimes way too much, depending on where you are.

Ranging function is super easy - either take a single range, or scan mode on the fly. The read-out is supposed to self adjust its brightness according to ambient light... and if I had any criticism on these binos, it would be that the data (numbers below the box) could be a bit easier to read ... BUT: before I make it an official complaint, I want to get it outside in hunting conditions. Going shopping for a muley on thursday ;).

I really like how the eye-cups rotate out for eye-glasses wearers... makes it easy to adjust for perfect positioning.

ps, tried it just now in the last of the fading light over the lake, and it actually seems to make things brighter on the far side, a mile away.

Haha!

You know me so well.... my almost son in law!

You know, you are getting older. If something happens to you tell your daughter to pass the Geovids along to me.

It's been a few years since you started the whole storm with her. Take a picture of her holding the Geovids and post it on the board. Inspire a new generation of stalkers!

Well - I did it. I dropped the coin on the Geovids!

I bought a set of 8x42's from Doug at Cameralandny.com. With current exchange and rebate, I figure they will be about $1600 CDN to my door.

I figured it was now or never - I don't think I'll be able to afford the $2500+ for the HD models next year!

I have a set of Vortex Viper 8x42's that I think are AMAZING, so I should be able to see a marked improvement in glass. :)

Yessir!! Got my 10x42 Geovids today!! Initial impressions are that these are one NICE pair of glasses. Clarity and light transmission are fantastic. Am heading out for a week long trip for deer on Thursday so will put them to the ultimate test in the field but so far so good.

Small things - might be my eyes are set wide apart but when I've got them adjusted for my eyes, the ranging target and readout are at the diagonal in my right vision, anyone else notice this? Also, bought a set of the Bushnell harness holders but the clips won't clip into the side slots on the binos (either clips are too big or slots are too small) so I've attached the Leica strap for now so I have a strap to clip onto. Unless I'm doing something wrong, I'll end up rigging up a small loop of some kind for each slot to hook the strap clips onto.

All in all, the optics appear top notch (as you would expect) and the casing seems built like a tank. Also, no worries about rain and snow as these are supposedly completely waterproof up to 5 metres.

I'd be interested to hear your comparison between the Vipers and the Geovids when you get them.
