Length of pull on Savage Axis

I dont recall the exact length, but I was in the store with my 9 yr old son comparing the two and I put them side by side and the youth was Im guessing about 1 1/2 inch shorter LOP. He said he felt much more comfortable with it and he looked comforable with it as well.

We also looked at the savage 11/111 youth package that was on sale for the same price as the axis and I think the 11/111 youth might be the way to go for him. However, I havnt heard any reviews on it yet.

It is 12.5 inch +/-

A friends daughter (approx 23 yr old) used one last year --- she is about 5 ft 5 inch and she liked the fit alot (compared to her dad's full size rifles as she is normally used to).

She also liked the "notched" fore-end as her hands could grasp it better.

Accurate enough for prairie also --- I offered to trim a couple of coils from the spring but she liked the 6 type pound trigger as well...

Three years ago my wife decided she was going to start hunting. I let her use a highly accurate SKS of mine because I wasn't going to spend money on a rifle if she couldn't drop the hammer.
Well, she killed a doe with that but she found it too heavy for her to drag around in the woods. We went to town to find a nice single shot .243 for her. She didn't like the Ruger since it was too long of a pull. then she picked up the Savage 11/111package in the youth model, loved it and has killed 3 deer with it last year and another 2 this season.
It shoots well for her but I have to have a slip-on recoil pad as well as shoulder pad to get the length right.
She can turn out an 11/16" group with Federal 100 gn blue box PowerShoks at 100 yds. Yes, definitely a nice enough rifle.

My suggestion would be to get the youth stock.... axis is fairly new... I would wager if you bought a youth one that the adult stocks would be available in the near future.... so you could upgrade the rifle for cheap....
