Hi everyone,

I'm curious about your length of pull when shooting prone. Do you find that you prefer a longer LOP when prone compared to when shooting standing, or off the bench?

I'm 5'10" and when prone have been shooting with a 14.25" LOP. When standing I shoot a 13.25-13.75 LOP. Is it typical that prone shooters prefer longer LOPs?

Thanks everyone,
Cal.

Yes, LOP is longer for prone and shortest for standing. The nice thing about a fully adjustable stock is the ability to alter the LOP (as well as cant and cheek position) when going from standing to sitting or to prone.

I'm the opposite.

When aligned with the rifle prone, it's shortest. Spine parallel with the rifle, shoulders squared off. If I don't square myself behind the rifle on a bench I find the LOP is a bit short.

If you cant yourself from the rifle (which I feel is very incorrect when prone), you LOP goes out very long.

I find many people don't square themselves behind the rifle prone. It greatly reduces muzzle flip.
