Lengthening trigger pull

In a bit of a quandary and need some advise from the pro's out there. Recently purchased a Remington 700 P and now feel that the 13 1/2" stock is too short. One of my shooting buddies agrees. The usual measure test of bicep to trigger puts my trigger finger in excess of 2 inches beyond the trigger. In actuality well beyond the front of trigger guard. Is there anyway to adjust for the over reach?

You need more stock so its either add some recoils pad or get a new stock .
You can add wood to it also I would try a limb saver boot over the end will
give you a good inch back .

First, that is length of pull you are describing. For future reference and all...

Your choices are:

1) Add a recoil pad. If it has a pad, look for a thicker one. Limbsavers all add about an inch.

2) Use a P.A.S.T. recoil shield. This works best if the rifle is mostly used on a range.

3) Add in spacers between your recoil pad and the stock. I used a piece of 1" fence board as a spacer on my 12FV. You can buy 1/4" grind to fit spacers at many gunshops, too, but you need more than 1/4" improvements.

4) Buy a new stock with a LOP closer to what you need.

If you are planning on hunting with the rifle, keep in mind that you will most likely be wearing heavy clothes and will need a shorter LOP to work properly with the extra layers.
