So, I'm planning on getting myself an XCR or ACR (if an NR version comes out at some point in the near future) at some point and am trying to decide on optics.

The Leopold Mark AR seems like a lot of bang for the buck however I have some questions;

What is the glass quality like? What is it comparable to?
Is this just a 3-9 rifleman or VX-? with fancy turrets?
If it is based on another scope model, which one?
I hand load and thus am not limited to 55gr .223 ammo, how far off the turret calibration will other bullets be ex: 69gr Sierras, or 55gr VMAX?

How do you zero this kind of scope? The turrets must have a zero stop function for elevation and windage?

Does anyone on here own one and if so what are your thoughts?

I have the 4-12x44 mark AR on my .308 win bolt gun and it is very good for the price. Glass is super clear. Reticle is nice and fine. Focus is good as is Objective and also works well in low light. As for adjustment it is .5 moa clicks and once u find zero with the ammo u are shooting u can adjust the turrets to match. I would like to upgrade to something more suited to my end goal but for now this works great and I highly recommend it

Have you thought about a red dot with magnification? I recommend Eotech.

I've though of it but I'm not sold, plus I'd like to use this for coyotes from time to time so that 9x will help reach out there.

I do like the Eotechs and Aimpoints ... But I've never actually looked through a magnifier.

I think you should check out the Nikon M223 in 2-8. Great scope, and I went with it over the mark ar offerings.

Prophet river sells them.

Nope, the factory NR ACR is available - there were about 20 brought in in the first batch by North Sylva, I believe - they should be available to any gunshop that deals with NS - price was right around $3K out here on the left coast.
