Hi everyone, I was wondering what people with this scope think of it on a 22-250 varmint rifle that also goes in varmint turkey shoots, I looked through one at the store the other day, and couldn't tell how it would be at precision target shooting at paper, I've made plenty of mistakes buying scopes that were not up to it so I'd like to get your opinions. A bunch of people I shoot with use the night force benchrest and I might be smarter to save up for that instead, they all have Leopold's on guns to but not that piticular one. Also if it helps 500m is the farthest it'll ever shoot. Thanks

That's plenty of scope. You may find 8x too much if you're shooting critters up close.

I was going to buy one of these in the 4.5-14x50 and when I felt the turrets I was immediately turned off. They felt very squishy and I was not impressed. I am used to a nice solid audible turrets such as what they offer on the Mark 5HD series and what Vortex offers on most of their long range scopes such as the Vipers PST, HS-T series and of course their Razer. I would go with the Vortex PST Gen 2 over the Leupold as you get a nicer scope for the money.

I currently have the 4.5-14 and 6.5-20 LRP scopes and I have been staying away from the 8.5-25 for that very reason. That being said, I'm still curious to give it a try.

Maybe shuffle them around. I wish I had put a 5.5-22x Nightforce on my 308 rather than the 3.5-15x. I threw the 5.5-22x on the 308 for a time while my 300WM was in storage and that made me kick myself in the ass. So either get another 6.5-20 or be prepared to be mad at yourself.

The 6.5-20 has so far been my favorite of the two. I'll see how I feel about the 4.5-14 after a whole summer of use.

I have one it's a good scope although I don't like the setscrew turrets. I had trouble with one of them slipping but they fixed it fast. I had a similar power sightron s3 scope with better turrets but it was ffp and the retical was useless at lower power anywhere you might use the lower power because I couldn't see it. Anyway my experience with high mag scopes is limited to these 2 and I would say the leupold is superior despite what I read and the glass is better at high power. I was actually having to turn down the power of the sightron to see my bullet holes in some conditions the leupold glass was very good I thought for not a top end scope.

My Cooper Varminter .17 HMR has the 8.5 - 25 x 50 Leuo. on , I like the scope.

The FFP is xlnt at higher powers 14 + as the reticle isn't useable much lower
and the parallax only adjusts down to 50 mtrs.
I'M working at 200 mtrs and it is great , at 500 it would be xlnt.

I wanted the SFP but wasn't 100 percent sure but now that I know less than 14 power is difficult to see hunting I'm going to go with SFP. On 8.5 power is the scope fairly clear below 50 meters even though the parallax doesn't go lower? thanks for the information everyone.
