Leopuld American marksman any good?

Cabelas has these on sale for 299 regular 420. Just wondering how these stack up compared to other scopes in that price range. Good buy?
 
Seems like it's basically a VX-1 with a wind plex reticle.

If you want that reticle then the price isn't bad. Prophet River has the VX-1 3-9 on for $269 no tax free shipping right now (if there's any left).

There is but less than ten now left , so, likely all gone before Monday at close when sale stops.
 
hmm reading this post after the fact. I bought a Leopold American yesterday at Cabela's. I compared it with the 2-7 Vortex (which I also own) and a Nikon and Cabelas 3-9 and I preferred the Leopold. I like crosshairs with dots and the main thing steering me away from the Nikon (@$149) was that the dots on the renticle were open loops. Also the glass at different magnification stayed clearer on the Leopold. We shall see how it performs on the K98 I mounted it on with a no drill mount. So far I am having fun messing with it around the house, turned into a sweet little setup.
