I've been trying to figure out why I was getting crushed primers on 45 acp on the loadmaster for a week now. Watched lots of videos both from Lee and shadowdog500 and I would get erratic results where some primers seats perfectly and some crushed.
I called Lee Precision and the technician talked me through it and asked good questions. One of the questions he asked if I was using the same brass on my turret and if I had problems seating. Initially I told him it was the same one but I unintentionally lied. These were the brass that I cleaned up when I purchased from someone at the Equipent Exchange at CGN. I had it stored for the longest time and decided to clean these up and use it.
The Lee technician told me to look at the head stamps of the brass with crushed primers. They were Federal and Blazer, non had the NT stamping. Lo and behold, something in my brain lit up and clicked, I looked at the primer pockets and they were small primer ones and not the large primer ones. Doh! Been crushing the primers and it was my own fault. I had no issues with the 45LC reloading cause they were all large pistol primers and only 45 ACP brass can have SPP and LPP.
Just to put it out there, only Winchester has NT for LPP. The rest of you pick range brass such as Federal and Blazer can have small pistol primer so watch out. I think this is in the web for a while for a few years (quick Googling) but thought I'd share.
So yesterday, did 200 rounds of 45acp with exception of one didn't seat properly. I only stopped cause I ran out of brass
