Let’s see some Ugly @ss SKSes

You are right. The poster is from BC. It's a Douglas Fir.

There’s a ton of larch/tamarak in B.C. as well, depending on the area your in. It’s deceptive, I start getting firewood in the spring and it looks like dead standing fir sometimes when it’s dropped it’s needles and the new ones haven’t grown back yet. The area I’m in has a big cross section of tree species.

Here's my ugliest one. (It's the one I test concepts on, so it tends to be the jankiest version of everything I do.)

Mods include:

- Adding a pistol grip -with wooden grip panels!- to the trigger group frame
- Shifting trigger forward, connected to original trigger by linkage bar, and adding a new trigger block safety behind it.
- Adding a bolt catch release lever forward of the trigger guard.
- Enhanced AK-style magazine release with trigger finger and thumb paddle.
- Pin through the stock that notch in magazine hooks on, enabling duckbill-less magazines (with negative space notch instead of protruding tab like AK-47 mags)
- Non-reciprocating charging handle on the gas tube, very handy to the shooter's support hand.
- Short micro red-dot sight rail on the receiver cover.
- Shaved the forestock down, added rail for angled foregrip.
- Light mount that positions the light switch directly under the shooter's support hand finger.
- Peep sight added to factory sight.
- Cut barrel to minimum non-restricted length. Cut down front sight block and reinstalled.
- Thread barrel (M.14x1, RH) for VZ-58 compensator.
