I know lots of guys don't do it any more. I do, as I like the cool barrels. Get as technical as you want, do you like it or not? Thanks

Moly is a high pressure lubricant.

In quality lapped barrels, the surface is smooth enough that friction related fouling is low.

If shooting factory or milsurp rifles, the benefit of moly is possible. I used alot of moly in my milsurp days.

As I spend 99% of my shooting now with quality barrels, the need for moly is moot.

I use it for my target guns and old milsurps.... Not for my hunting guns which I leave fouled.
Benefits are shot to shot consistency from a cold clean bore through the course of fire, and reduced bore wear.

I like it from the reduced cleaning benefit for the longer competitions ... I also seem to see less flame cracking in front of the chamber (I need to shoot out a few more barrels to confirm).
