Let see some loads some of you GN's have come up with for your .260 Remingtons.

Here is a couple of my favorites.
My Rifle is a Sako 85 Hunter, 22 7/16" barrel with 1-8" twist. Brass is Lapua .243 Brass resized, necks turned, and trimmed. Fire formed, the neck sized to reload.

As always, safely build up your loads. Do not assume if someone else is using it, it will be OK in your rifle.

Here is an excellent Target load that I used.

43 gr H4350 powder
139gr Lapua Scenar bullets
Federal LR Primers
2.895" OAL
(for some reason I never documented the velocity)

Here is my favorite Hunting load so far.

40gr Varget Powder
130 gr Berger VLD Bullets
CCI LR Mag Primers
2.900" OAL (I'm sure this load would be even better if I loaded them longer, but this is the maximum length I can fit in the clip)
2773 fps average.
I have shot 6 White-tails with this load from 8 yards to 385 yards, all behind the shoulder, none went any further than 35-40 yards. Minimal meat damage.

Another accurate hunting load

43gr H4350 Powder
140gr Sierra Game Kings Bullet
CCI LR Primer
(again don't seem to have the velocity logged)

I currently have some 120gr Barnes TTSX bullet that I would like to try as I have heard good results from them. If anyone has loads they wish to share, please do.

I have 2 loads that I'm currently running in my Sako 85 SS.

130gr Accubond, 44.5gr H4350, 2750 fps

100gr Nosler BT, 49gr H4350, 3100 fps

Hoping to plug a deer this season with the AB load...:D

Target loads of 48gr of H4831SC, 142 Sierra MK and CCI BR2 primers.

Another shooter uses 45gr H4831 with 140 Bergers and BR2 primers. He did very well this year with this load winning the BC Championships and the 18:22:34 Governors prize.

I use the nosler 125 gr.with imr 4831. Terrific penetration. It will go completly through a caribou frm the side or front. I figure that I don't need a heavier bullet that has more energy when it exits as it surely will.

120 gr. Nosler Ballistic Tip, 37 grains Varget, Remington Brass, Winchester large rifle primer. Did not chrono but this grouped the best of loads from 36 min. to 37.5 grains powder. No hot load but a 5 shot group of .476" out of a Rem. Mdl. 7 S.S.

Well, after several different loads, I have not stumbled across any promising loads for the 120gr Barnes TTSX's. My gun seems to like the heavier bullets best. I did try some 129gr Hornady SST's though and found a very accurate load.

129gr Hornady SST
47.5gr IMR 4831
CCI LR Mag Primers
Loaded to 2.900" OAL
2975fps average velocity, shoots under 1" @ 100yards

rifle is remington 700 titanium with 22" brl. All with winchester primers, remington cases.
140g corelokt imr4350 43.5g max 2609fps hLot load in my gun
imr4831 44.5g max 2650
AA3100 45.5g max 2669
Rl19 45g max 2689
140g partition Rl19 45g 2816
imr4350 43g 2778
160g hornady roundnose interlock
Rl19 40g 2345
imr4831 42g 2430 warm
imr4350 41g 2505 warm

Thats all I have for now

re 260 loads

I have had very good results with 47 grains RL 19 and the 125 grain nosler partition, around 2970 in my Rem 700 Mnt rifle, also with 46 grains of VV N-560 and the 140 grain partion 2800 fps aprox, could be hot in your rifle be sure to work up to this one. Never had to use more that one shot on Mule Deer or white tails with the 125 grain load and have recovered the odd bullet. Have shot around 6 mule deer with the 140 grain load but the bullets have all gone right on through. also 38 grains of rl 15 with the 120 grain sierra HPBT and a federal 210 match primer makes a great target load (sub 1/2 inch) 40 grains seems to work also but have not tried it much yet.

Tikka Varmint stainless. Using 140 Berger VLD, RL17 44.5gr., nosler brass, 210M, seated way past mag length to 2.965" ( don't have my notes to check), 2880 fps avg for 7 shots ES 10 SD 5, 1/2" groups consistently for 5 shots. I have shot it to 600yds. no farther yet. Minutes needed are consistent with the velocity my chrony says.

Nobody using the Barnes TTSX's yet?

Sako 75 Finnlight, 20 1/4" barrel with 1-9" twist.
I picked the gun up new and unfired this year.
Lapua .243 Brass resized, and trimmed.

120 g TTSX bullets

H4350 powder

45.0 g 3/4" groups
45.5 g 3/4" groups
46.0 g 1" groups and average 2930 FPS

What a nice gun to shoot.
I suspect very easy to load for too.
If just deer is the goal even easier with so many bullet choices.
With the barnes I would not hesitate on moose, elk and a shoulder shot if required.
Of course if going out specifically for moose, elk I would carry my 30 06.

Futher to my post on page 1, 37 gr. Varget, 120 grain Nosler ballistic tip, Rem. brass, Win. primer. This tuned out to be a very accurate load, best group was .476" five shot group. I chrono'd it yesterday around 2650 which was just slightly lower than factory Remington Premier Ballistic Tip ammo with the exact same projectile. The reload printed exactly 3/4 inch below the factory load. Out of the short, thin profile Rem. Model 7 barrel this is very satisfactory. That is also using FL resized brass. I cannot consistently chamber neck sized brass, not entirely sure why.

Buy one Archie, just buy one! Even Todd Bartel loves them!

Here's what I load in my Tikka so far,

140gr A-max 41grs of RL-19 or 36grs of RL-15
140gr Berger VLD 41.5grs RL-19 or 39.4grs of H4350
129gr SST's 43.5grs of IMR4350
These were in remington brass with fed primers.

Since then I switched to Norma brand 308 brass and only tested one load
42grs of RL-17 with 129gr SST's.
