Personally I'm right handed with the left eye dominate which I find a little strange being new to the sport but from what I'm reading on here it doesn't seem to be a big problem.
thanks for the poll, i was thinking about asking that question myself!
im left handed, left eyed. but i occasionally shoot right handed, for practice, or by necessity, depending on the firearm. i usually shoot both eyes open, but when im shooting righty, i sometimes have to close my left eye to make my brain happy.
I'm right-handed, but was recently told that I was forced to be so by my father at an early age. Which explains the following;
I shoot right-handed, using my right eye. But, I keep both eyes open while shooting.
Following recent experiences, I've discovered that I can shoot left handed with my left eye, and I seem to do it well enuf.
"...neither eye dominant..." One or the other is dominant.
Left eyed, right with a handgun, left with a long gun.
"...being new to the sport..." For single handed target shooting, head up, move your back leg to bring the sights over. Two handed shooting, keep both eyes open. Concentrate on the front sight with either.
Right hand left eye. Which is going to be interesting for me. My restricted instructor said the last firearms instructor at Depot would prefer you shooting the side your dominant eye is on.
I don't want to practice too much because I know I'll just develop bad habits before I get out there.
