I've been on a light weight mountain rifle kick lately. Currently waiting on a M700 mountain ss in .280 rem as a donor for my next sheep rifle. Lets see what all the mountain hunters out there like to pack up in the hills with them. Post pics with weight and caliber. Factory or custom..

Rem700 in 270 wsm, 7lb 3oz scoped with a #3 rock creek barrel. Very nice to pack around and still shoots great.

My latest build, 28 nosler on a pierce ti, macmillan mtn ks stock. #5 benchmark spiral fluted. 8 pounds 10oz with a night force, almost hit my goal of 8 1/2

BSA Featherweight in 338-06 Not too bad for a wood-stocked rifle with a 24" barrel.

Some rifles that hitch a ride to the high country with me...most I still own a few have gone down the road.
Whether chasing high country muleys or just rambling...a day in the hills with your favorite steel in your hands is as close to heaven as one could ever hope to get.
Apologies for the 870 Police, that one has put on some serious miles in the BC mountains in heavy grizzly country and I felt it at least deserved an honorable mention.

I have posted pictures on previous threads concerning lightweight rifles, why not start by doing a search ?
My pets are a Remington 700 Ti chambered in 270 / 08.... weight 6lb.4 oz.
A Howa 1500 Alpine in 308.....weight 7 lbs.
A Ruger 77 Tang Safety in 7mm Rem.after a slight weight reduction.

Kevan - I have the same Ruger and wondering how you lightened that up? Mine is close to 10# loaded, lol. I have an MPI stock that's super light 20oz IIR but haven't installed it yet. That will save about 3/4# not sure what else ya can do.

My "mountain" ones aren't real lightweights

700ti 6.5rm, 700ti 280, 700mr 260, they are all around 7.5# scoped/loaded. Any weight I saved I used to put more scope - zeiss hd 5, and Nikon pro 5. Could lose almost 1/2# with different scope. My m7 XCR 300 is fairly light too.

Kimber Montana .308.

I have another 84L in .270 with a 4.5-14x40 VX3i that I've got to put together and try out. It should be around 6lb 8oz scoped.

Remington 700 Mountain SS in .308, Magpul DBM, Leupold rings and bases, Leupold VX3i 3.5-10x40, Trigger Tech trigger, glass bedded with Devcon, just over 7.5 pounds all dressed.

Can't wait to take it hunting this fall!

This is a 700 Ti in 300 WSM with a Brown Precision Kevlar stock and PT&G speed lock and aluminium bolt shroud. All up weight is 5 lbs 15 oz with 3-9X36 Leupold compact and Weaver rings and bases.

Do you have an exact weight on that stock? It must be way less than a pound and half?
Thanks!!!
