I want to build up my Savage MKII FV or start a complete new project rimfire.
So I'd like to see what people are doing with there precision rimfires, what actions they are building them on and how well do they shoot.

Thanks
ron

What type of performance are you after?

If you want a 'tactical' looking precision rig, the Savage will work just fine.

If you want a BR/competition type rig, I would nudge you towards a build using a CIL/Anschutz action or Bruno #4. The CZ452 factory rifles have been shooting very nicely and there are trigger upgrades which are nice.

Even some 50's US manf rimfires can work superbly like the Win 52 and Rem "looks like a 700 rimfire action" (don't remember the number).

Then there are real top end actions like the Anschutz 64, 54; Russian SAUL (SP?).

There is a new craze in the US (California mostly) called Tactical 22. Lots of options from gussed up 10/22's to the best Europe has to offer.

If you are thinking more rimfire BR, 6mmBR.com has a few guns of the week that cover alot of info on what it takes to make a BR50 happen. Really nice rigs and kit.

If you are looking for a top ranking barrel, I can offer you the Shilen which is pretty much one of two brands dominating BR50 right now.

There is much more info in the Rimfire forum as this topic gets discussed often.

Enjoy...

Those CZ452 are a lot of rifle for what you get. The price keeps nudging up on them as people discover the accuracy that you can get. The $15 trigger kit turns that trigger into a work of art too.
Best $550 you'll spend when it comes to rifles. If the conditions are right it isn't hard to get sub MOA groups with the right ammo at 100 yards. Everyone that I know that has one are able to get it to shoot well.

I totally agree on the cz 452. For the price they are hard to beat. If you search around you can find some nice accessories for them too. As has already been stated, sub MOA at 100 is definitely possible with ammo your rifle likes. I've been fairly lucking in that mine enjoys cheap federal champion and american eagle ammo. Maybe I will get around to uploading a picture of it sometime.
