I suspect there are some folks who collect Remington 700 BDL rifles - not as cool and popular as pre-64 Model 70's, but there are some nice ones out there and the prices are usually reasonable. There were a couple on the EE not long ago that were mighty tempting - Carbine in .280 and a Custom C Grade in .270 Win.

The only one that I ever had was a C Grade in .375 H&H with a bull barrel - it would have made for a really nice set with that C Grade .270 Win.

Yeah, its sort of like thistle-down settling. ;) I'm favoring my M70 Alaskan now, it s just a bit over 8 pounds scoped. Lighter than one of my .270 Featherweights believe it or not. Tiny bit heavier than the other.

Have one that is at least "medium rare".
A second year production( 1963) 700 BDL with the then standard barrel length of 20 inches in .222 Remington Magnum.
Will try to post a photo.........IMG_2910.JPG

Not rare, but vintage. 1979 700 BDL, looking at the catalog from that year this would be the "Varmint special." It is a heavy barrel .308 Win. The scope is a 1977 Leupold fixed 20x.
