So I've got a Spanish Destroyer on the way (finally) and I'm gonna need to feed it. I have read most people use .38 Super load data but I'm just wondering if anyone has a good start load for any of the bullets and powders I have on hand.

Bullets Available:
-Cast 124gr Conical
-Cast 125gr Round Nose
-Cast 158gr Round Nose

Powder Available:
-Unique (preferred, as I have lots of this and use it in everything from .25acp to .351WSL)
-Herco
-H110 (Probably a bit slow but I have lots of this so I thought I'd ask)

I'll be using Lee 9mm Luger Dies as that's what I see most people using and I already have them.

9x23 Winchester and 9mm Bergman cartridges are almost identical dimensionally

I've used a lot of 9x23 Winchester cartridges, right out of the box in my Spanish Destroyer, with no signs of bolt lug set back or any other issues.

I've also used 9x19 and 9x21 cartridges in the rifle to see if there would be any detrimental effects. Nada.

The Spanish Astra 400 pistols, chambered for 9mm Bergman used to be touted as a "wonder 9mm" back in the 50s-60s because it could be fed 9x19/9x21/9mm Bergman/9x23 and it would function reliably without any harm to the pistol

When the handy little bolt action carbines first came into Canada, a lot of people set back the barrels and recut the chambers to 9x19 Luger. I was going to turn one into a 357 Sig.

The rifles were ''cheap'' when they were first offered and many of them had already been converted by the Spanish to 9x19, but weren't marked as such.

Any of the modern loads in manuals for the above cartridges should be fine for the Destroyer Carbine.

I don't know if the Destroyer carbine is as strong or stronger than the Astra 400 semi auto pistol but I doubt the pistol is stronger.

IMHO, those little carbines are very strong.

No such thing as a "pet load'' for a Destroyer carbine IMHO.

When I reload 7.2 grains of HS6 under 124 grain bullets in 9x21/9x23/9 Bergmann cases of mixed manufacture.

My rifle doesn't shoot the heavier 145 grain bullets well.

I use the same charge for either Powder Coated projectiles or jacketed.

Knocks over Coyotes very well, under 50 yards and it's a bit much for Bunnies.

I was hoping to use the 158gr as I have plenty of them already cast, lubed and sized. However, search on different forums I may get better results with the 124gr-125gr

So what's your problem???? Use them.

My rifle didn't like the heavier bullets, likely due to the slow twist rate. Your rifle may like them fine.

There are all sorts of loads available in reloading manuals on and off the internet that will give you good starting points.

I usually use 9x23 0r 9x21 loads for my Destroyer.
